The National Engineering College, Kovilpatti, conducted a State level General Knowledge quiz for Higher Secondary students on 21 October 2016.

The Quiz master was Dr. Suman C Raman who is by profession a Doctor, , a Sports Commentator, a Political Analyst and the TV Anchor of BSNL SPORTS QUIZ  0n DD Podhigai, which holds the Limca Book of Records for being the longest running weekly quiz show on Indian television.

105 teams from schools in Tamilnadu and Pondicherry districts  participated in the Preliminary quiz to select the top 8 teams which were invited on stage for the Final.

The competition was very tough but our students R. Balaji and S.Mahesh Rajan of class 12 were excited and happy to hear their names  read out to join the other finalists in the hot seats on the stage.

The Quiz master with his unique style conducted the final show of 8 rounds for the 8 teams. For the first two rounds our students lagged behind but as they  confidently answered questions they slowly increased their score and the final two rounds on the buzzer where a bonanza: they edged to the top of the board and won  the trophy with the cash prize of 25,000/-

 It was a priceless moment when the trophy was awarded to the students on stage: they were given a  standing ovation.
