Overseas Partnerships

A valuable and almost unique feature of Sri Jayendra School is our partnership with schools in the UK.

Mill Hill School in London has been linked with us for over a decade. Each July a group of their Lower Sixth Formers (XII Standard age) visit for three weeks. They teach our pupils conversational English and we find this exposure to foreigners and the intensive nature of the teaching (made possible by the influx of 15 to 20 ‘extra’ English teachers) has a noticeable effect on our pupils. Their English improves and they become more confident in speaking the language.

Every two years four of our teachers are invited to visit Mill Hill School for a few weeks so they can gain useful experience of another educational system and exchange ideas with British teachers. We have found this experience to be invaluable.

Emanuel School, also in London, started their partnership with us in 2011. They too send a group of Lower Sixth pupils for three weeks in the summer following on from the Mill Hill group. This means our pupils have the benefit of six weeks with native English speakers in the School.

Emanuel have a special relationship with our free Primary School the Gita Krishnamurthy Vidyalaya (GKV) and are also creating a link between GKV and Christ Church, a primary school in Battersea, South London. (http://webfronter.com/wandsworth/christchurch/)

Our partnership schools also help us by raising funds and many of our pupils are sponsored from abroad; about 200 pupils are helped by foreign donations.
