270 schools from the southern district of Tamil Nadu entered teams for this culture and heritage quiz. Sri Jayendra was represented by B. Selvamuthu Balaji of Class 9 and M. Nandabalan of class 8.
Preliminary rounds were held in various locations to whittle down the number of teams. Our pair performed extremely well and qualified for the semi-finals, which they won with their consistent performance to become one of ten teams in the final.
The Grand Finale was held in Tuticorin on October 8.
Teachers and Parents from all the schools were enthusiastically preparing their teams until the very last minute to ensure they were at the peak of performance for the final.
The hall was full with a lively audience ready to cheer on the participants.
The quiz was conducted in an entertaining and exciting manner with cultural and heritage questions from Mythology, Epics, Lives of Spiritual Leaders and History of Temples.
By the end our pupils stood a very creditable second and were awarded medals, certificates and gold coins and recognised for having the overall best performance throughout the journey of Puranava 2016.
