The Hindu Young World Quiz is India’s largest inter-school quiz. The 17th Edition of this general knowledge quiz was held for the Madurai Region on February 10, 2017 at Thiagarajar College in Madurai. Quizmaster V.V. Ramanan, once again played host.

 In the Junior Category 137 teams took part in the preliminaries and 240 in the Senior. Of these, six teams in each category were selected for the finals.

We were delighted when, in our Junior team, K.V.Kalyani of class 6 and P. Ramasubramanian of class 5, were selected for the final round by winning third place in the Preliminaries. Though they performed well they only managed to finish sixth in the finals. Better luck to them next time.

It was a real battle in the senior category as six teams were selected from the 240 entrants to occupy the hot seats on the stage for the Finals.

Our school Senior team B.Selva Muthu Balaji of class 9 and M. Nandabalan of class 8 stunned the audience with the highest score in the prelims and breezed into the Finals. The final session was a real thriller: every team battled for the trophy.  All teams performed extraordinarily well and Jayendra was in the lead for much of the round but finally we were dethroned to the second position by just one mark. Bad Luck indeed!

Although we secured only second place this is such a prestigious competition that we can feel justifiably proud. We were the only school from Tirunelveli to reach the final in both the categories.

The students and staff who trained the students were appreciated in the school assembly and recognized by our Principal Mrs.Usha Raman.
