Our Bond with Millhill School, London.
One of the most treasured traditions at Sri Jayendra Golden Jubilee School is our enriching partnership with Millhill School, London. Every June, we are delighted to host a group of their Lower Sixth Form students—equivalent to our XII Standard—who bring with them a vibrant blend of knowledge, culture, and creativity.
This year, on June 22 we welcomed a delegation of nine guests, including three dedicated teachers and six enthusiastic students. Their arrival was warmly celebrated with a soulful welcome song by our students during the morning assembly, setting the tone for ten days filled with dynamic learning and cultural exchange.
Throughout their stay, our campus buzzed with engaging sessions in conversational English, drama, music, and art. It was heartwarming to see both sets of students learning from one another—ours honing their English fluency and confidence, while our guests immersed themselves in Indian music and traditions.
A special highlight was the contribution of Ms. Claire, Head of the Geography Department at Millhill, who conducted highly interactive geography classes using modern technology. Our students even undertook a project on energy resources, which Millhill students will soon complete as part of a comparative study across continents.
Mr. Victor, the team leader, conducted insightful workshops for our teachers, focusing on smart and effective teaching methodologies. These sessions were deeply appreciated and will surely have a lasting impact on our teaching practices.
Beyond the classroom, our guests thoroughly enjoyed exploring the vibrant spirit of South India. From shopping local crafts to relishing traditional cuisine, and visiting picturesque spots like Kanyakumari, Thotti Palam, local waterfalls, and the serene Ambasamudiram river belt, they experienced the warmth and beauty of our homeland.
This exchange continues to be a beautiful blend of education and cultural appreciation, strengthening global friendships and inspiring young minds on both sides. We look forward to many more such joyful collaborations in the years to come!
