Hitting Victory in Junior Super Kings T20 Tournament

Chennai Super kings and The India Cements Limited Jointly organized and sponsored the Junior Super Kings T20 Tournament for the school students. The tournament witnessed schools from across the state competing for top honours. The event was held in four phases in different places and the Final phase of the Tournament was held in India Cements Limited Ground, Sankar Nagar, Tirunelveli.

Our school Cricket Team Under the captainship of G.Sriram of class 12 executed a stunning performance and reached the Finals. The Final match was played between us and Sankar Higher Secondary School, Sankar Nagar.

After winning the toss, our team elected to bat first and ended with 162 runs for 6. The bowlers of our team with their excellent bowling skill made the opponents to lose all the wickets with 70 runs and Sri Jayendra Cricket Team emerged the winner of Junior Super Kings T 20 tournaments.  Our captain was awarded the Man of the Final title, and S. Amarnath of class 12 received the title of Best Bowler. He reached positive feet by achieving  hat rick in the match against St.John’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kalakkad.

The man behind the success stories of our cricket team is none other than our school P.T.Master and Cricket coach Mr. D.Rajasekaran. The entire team was appreciated and recognized in the school assembly by the Principal and Mr.Paul Bickerdike, London.

First Runner up in Kiddival 2016

On 19th November the 27th edition of Kiddival, the interschool competition, was conducted by the sponsors RMKV in the Sarah Tucker College, Palayamkottai.

The competition is open to children studying in classes from LKG to Class 5 from Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts.  They show-case  their talents in 27 events covering such things as Fancy dress, Spelling bee, Handwriting, Pencil sketch, Pot painting, Quiz, Vocal music, Classical dance and Fashion Parade in a day long extravaganza.

Our pupils, under the guidance of our Principal and with the support of many teachers practiced enthusiastically and tirelessly for this prestigious competition. Their efforts were rewarded with much success.

We won prizes in the following events:

First prizes in: Classical Vocal, Non classical Vocal  and Pot Painting

Second prizes in: Classical Instrumental, Non classical Instrumental, Group Dance and Fab Kid Boys.

Third prizes in: Tamil Hand writing, Classical dance, Quiz and Fab Kid Girls

This impressive total meant we finished as First Runner up. Kudos to all the participants!

The participants and winners were appreciated by our Principal in school assembly and all participants received a special prize in recognition of their hard work and contribution.

Thanithiran Competitions

Each year the Education department of Tamilnadu conducts various State wide competitions for school pupils. After preliminary and district level rounds the toppers participate in the Final State Level Competition representing their district. For the academic year 2016-17 the finals were held in Coimbatore on 28 November 2016.

Having topped at district level our students represented Tirunelveli District in Vocal music for all age groups, Instrumental Music for Middle school level and Classical dance and Quiz for the Higher Secondary level. We are very proud of our students and the staff who trained them since all the participants who represented the district won a prize. Hearty Congratulations to the winners for their wonderful performance!

The students who brought home the  laurels were:

  • Sruthi of class 10: Second Place in Carnatic Vocal
  • Gowri of class 11: Third place in Carnatic Vocal

  • Hariharan of class 8: Second Place in Non classical Instrumental
  • Iswarya of class 11: Third place in Classical dance
