Thanks Giving Celebration: Honouring our Bond with the MillHill School

On July 1, our school celebrated a grand Thanksgiving function for the Millhillians, marking a vibrant cultural exchange. This year, we hosted 9 students and 3 staff members from Millhill School, London, for ten days filled with various learning activities and fun. Millhill staff conducted interactive sessions for our teachers during their stay, enhancing the educational exchange.

The event was graced by Mr. Chellaiah, Trustee of MDT Hindu College, as the Guest of Honour. For the function, Millhillians wore stunning Indian traditional clothes, adding to the cultural richness. After the Welcome Speech, Our Principal Mrs. Usha Raman’s presentation highlighted our school’s journey and our relationship with Millhill School.

Our school choir presented mesmerizing songs in various languages. A highlight was the Millhillians singing poet Bharati’s song with our choir, a beautiful testament to their learning. Additionally, our students performed two skits taught by the Millhill staff, showcasing the collaborative spirit.

The most awaited event was the dance performances, featuring a variety of dances including the Haryanvi folk dance of Haryana, Mohiniyattam of Kerala, Bhangra of Punjab, Fisherman Dance of Maharashtra, and various folk dances of Tamil Nadu. Each performance outshone the previous one with extraordinary backdrops, props, costumes, and jewelry, creating a visual feast for the audience earning a standing ovation.

The function also included the distribution General Proficiency Prizes for the toppers of the classes 1 to 9 and the annual awards for the school toppers in the SSLC and Higher Secondary Examinations for the previous Academic year. The event concluded smoothly and was appreciated by everyone. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by our Vice Principal Mrs. Ganga Mani.

Reviving a Cherished Tradition: Our School’s Partnership with Millhill School, London

A unique and highly valued feature of Sri Jayendra Golden Jubilee School is our longstanding partnership with Millhill School in London. Each June, a group of their Lower Sixth Form students (equivalent to our XII Standard) visits us for three weeks. During their stay, they teach our pupils conversational English. This interaction not only enhances our students’ language skills but also boosts their confidence in speaking English.

After a four-year gap due to the pandemic, we were thrilled to welcome 9 students and 3 staff members from Millhill School this year. Our students greeted them warmly with a beautiful welcome song during the morning assembly. The school is now alive with various learning activities, including music, drama, and art. Here’s a glimpse of the vibrant cultural exchange and the joyous atmosphere that has returned to our school.

Celebrating Excellence: Highlights from Our School’s Awards Ceremony

In a grand celebration of academic achievement and extracurricular excellence, our school recently hosted an awards ceremony to honour the outstanding accomplishments of our students. Under the guiding light of our esteemed Principal, Mrs. Usha Raman, the event commenced with a warm welcome address, setting the tone for an evening of recognition and celebration. Our Principal also presented a detailed annual report, highlighting the remarkable progress and achievements of our school over the past year, much to the delight of the gathered parents and guests.

The ceremony began with the felicitation of the school and subject toppers in the SSLC and Higher Secondary Examination for the previous academic year who brought laurels to the school. The teachers responsible for their success were also recognised on stage.

The General Proficiency Awards for students from classes 1 to 9 added another layer of recognition for well-rounded achievement.

Throughout the evening, the stage was aglow with excitement as students who had excelled in academics, sports, quiz, dance, music, and various other extracurricular activities were acknowledged with prestigious mementos and cash awards.

The ceremony also paid homage to the memory of individuals who were the well wishers of our school through the presentation of memorial prizes in various domains.

Our Vice Principal, Mrs. Ganga Mani, offered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event. This awards ceremony served as a fitting tribute to the collective efforts of our students and staff in fostering an environment where excellence thrives and dreams are nurtured. Goshika Sree Honoured by New Zealand Cricketer Rachin Ravindra

Goshika Sree, a class 12 student of our school, has been bestowed with a prestigious honour by none other than Rachin Ravindra, the renowned New Zealand cricketer and current player for Chennai Super Kings. The recognition comes in light of her outstanding accomplishment in representing the Tamil Nadu Women’s Under-19 State Cricket Team. Goshika’s dedication and skill have not only earned her accolades locally but have also captured the attention of international cricketing figures, further establishing her status as a promising talent in the field of women’s cricket. Our Best wishes to Goshika!

Nurturing Kidney Health: A Collaborative Endeavor

Recently, our school teamed up with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to host an informative event for World Kidney Day. Led by esteemed figures like Dr. N. Subramanian, Dr. M. Mohammad Ibrahim, and Dr. M. Prabhuraj from the IMA, along with Dr. N. Balakrishnan and Dr. M. Pradeepa, the program was a great success.

The event buzzed with energy as students eagerly participated, asking questions and engaging in discussions about kidney diseases, their importance, functions, and common myths. The lively interaction made the session truly memorable.

Special thanks to our dedicated Biology department staff who worked hard to make all the arrangements. Our Principal, Mrs. Usha Raman, warmly welcomed everyone and passed the baton to the doctors for their expert insights. Finally, our Vice Principal, Mrs. Ganga Mani, expressed gratitude to all involved.

Honouring Excellence in Silambam by the Honourable District Collector

M. Saravanakumar, a distinguished student of our school, recently achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the Gold medal in the prestigious state-level Silambam competition organized by the Education department of the Tamilnadu Government. In recognition of his outstanding achievement, he was graciously invited by the Honourable District Collector of Tirunelveli, Dr. K. P. Karthikeyan I.A.S.

Accompanied by our esteemed Principal, Vice Principal, and Physical Education master, Saravanakumar was honoured to meet the District Collector. During the meeting, Dr. Karthikeyan expressed his admiration for Saravanakumar’s dedication and skill in Silambam, a traditional martial art form of Tamil Nadu. The District Collector extended his heartfelt congratulations and offered best wishes for Saravanakumar’s future endeavors and competitions.

In a distinguished testament to the esteemed educational landscape of Tirunelveli district, Mrs. Usha Raman, our beloved Principal was accorded a singular honour. On the gracious invitation extended by the honourable Governor of Tamil Nadu Mr. R.N.Ravi, a select few luminaries, including Mrs. Usha Raman and the revered Correspondent, Mrs. Nirmal Ramarathinam, convened at the illustrious Rajbhavan in Chennai for the Republic Day High-Tea Party on the evening of January 26.

Amidst the regal ambiance of Rajbhavan, She stood as the sole representative from Tirunelveli’s educational institutions, a testament to her unwavering commitment and exemplary contributions to the field of education. Her presence at such a distinguished gathering underscored not only her individual accomplishments but also the collective strides made by the educational fraternity in nurturing young minds and shaping the future of the region.

A Mathematical Maestro’s Annual Odyssey: Honouring Mr. Christopher Dean’s 30-Year Legacy in Enriching Minds

A venerable tradition unfolds every year in our school since 2009 as Mr. Christopher Dean, a distinguished mathematical scholar and Further Mathematics Tutor at Cambridge Education Group, graces us with his profound wisdom. With an illustrious career spanning three decades at Cambridge University, England, Mr. Dean, now 85, continues to kindle the flame of mathematical curiosity in the hearts of our Higher Secondary students.

His unwavering passion for teaching has become a beacon of inspiration, prompting him to travel to our school annually, where he dedicates three weeks to our students .

This year was no exception as our classrooms became the canvas for his pedagogical artistry. With a masterful touch, Mr. Dean effortlessly navigated through mathematical concepts, leaving an indelible mark on the minds of our fortunate class 11 students.

As we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Christopher Dean, we are not merely expressing appreciation for a teacher but acknowledging the presence of a mathematical maestro who has sculpted the minds of generations.

In honouring Mr. Dean, we also extend our warmest wishes for continued good health and look forward to the prospect of many more years blessed with his illuminating presence in our classrooms.
