Celebrating Friendship and Culture: A Grand Thanksgiving Function for the Millhillians

On June 30, our school came alive with joy and cultural vibrance as we hosted a heartfelt Thanksgiving Celebration in honour of our cherished bond with MillHill School, London. This special occasion marked the culmination of a ten-day exchange program, during which we welcomed six students and three staff members from MillHill into our community, forging lasting friendships and deepening educational ties.

The celebration was graced by eminent guests – Dr. Ramakrishnan, Chief of Aravind Eye Hospitals, Mrs. Saradha Ramakrishnan, and Dr. Meenakshi, Chief Medical Officer, Aravind Eye Hospitals, whose presence added significance to the event.

In a beautiful embrace of Indian tradition, the Millhillians attended the event in vibrant Indian attire, symbolizing their appreciation and respect for our culture. The event opened with our school choir rendering soulful melodies in multiple languages. A standout moment was the joint performance of a Tamil song by poet Bharati, sung harmoniously by the Millhillians and our choir—an inspiring reflection of cultural unity.

The most eagerly awaited segment of the day was the dazzling array of dance performances. From the energetic Pinnal Kollattam to a spectacular portrayal of the Five Land Types of Ancient Tamil Nadu, each performance was a visual delight. Stunning backdrops, ornate costumes, and evocative choreography left the audience in awe, earning multiple standing ovations.

Adding to the energy of the day was a lively guest performance by the MillHill staff and students, which turned into a joyous celebration as the audience joined in to dance along.

The function also recognized academic excellence, with the distribution of General Proficiency Prizes for students of Classes 1 to 9, Annual Awards for SSLC and Higher Secondary toppers, and Memorial Prizes for achievements in academics and extracurricular for the previous academic year.

The Thanksgiving Celebration concluded on a high note, with warm applause and heartfelt appreciation from all attendees. It was not just an event, but a celebration of learning, collaboration, and the enduring bond between two schools committed to holistic education.
