On July 1, our school celebrated a grand Thanksgiving function for the Millhillians, marking a vibrant cultural exchange. This year, we hosted 9 students and 3 staff members from Millhill School, London, for ten days filled with various learning activities and fun. Millhill staff conducted interactive sessions for our teachers during their stay, enhancing the educational exchange.
The event was graced by Mr. Chellaiah, Trustee of MDT Hindu College, as the Guest of Honour. For the function, Millhillians wore stunning Indian traditional clothes, adding to the cultural richness. After the Welcome Speech, Our Principal Mrs. Usha Raman’s presentation highlighted our school’s journey and our relationship with Millhill School.
Our school choir presented mesmerizing songs in various languages. A highlight was the Millhillians singing poet Bharati’s song with our choir, a beautiful testament to their learning. Additionally, our students performed two skits taught by the Millhill staff, showcasing the collaborative spirit.
The most awaited event was the dance performances, featuring a variety of dances including the Haryanvi folk dance of Haryana, Mohiniyattam of Kerala, Bhangra of Punjab, Fisherman Dance of Maharashtra, and various folk dances of Tamil Nadu. Each performance outshone the previous one with extraordinary backdrops, props, costumes, and jewelry, creating a visual feast for the audience earning a standing ovation.
The function also included the distribution General Proficiency Prizes for the toppers of the classes 1 to 9 and the annual awards for the school toppers in the SSLC and Higher Secondary Examinations for the previous Academic year. The event concluded smoothly and was appreciated by everyone. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by our Vice Principal Mrs. Ganga Mani.
