V Standard Tour to Thiruparappu Falls and Thotti Paalam

On  2nd February the V standard had an outing to Thiruparappu Falls. Although there was much less water than normal there was sufficient for all the pupils to get suitably soaked and have a very enjoyable time. The children were delighted to find that when they had their picnic lunch by the river a number of elephants were there being bathed by their keepers. A charming sight!

Moving on to Thotti Paalam (Aqueduct) we were disappointed to find there was no water whatsoever flowing through the channel. This made the pupils realise the water situation in Tamil Nadu at the moment is indeed grave. Nevertheless we all enjoyed a walk across the aqueduct with its impressive views.

On the three hour return journey the teachers were of course exhausted but the children had sufficient energy to be very lively indeed for the entire time: the journey was enjoyed by everyone under the age twenty.
